October Happenings

Saturday night at the ER. A night playing at friends house turns dangerous when the kids decide to go on the trampoline. Right after the boy climbed up he was bounced back down...right on his arm. Snap, crackle, pop later and he broke both bones in his left arm. Luckily it hasn't fazed him much other than being an overall annoyance and learning a hard lesson about listening to mom. On the plus side, I got to leave work after only about an hour Saturday night. Woo-hoo!

Today was Trick or Treating in our town. Girl was a witch...she designed her dress and it was made by Granny over the summer. The boy is a vampire and luckily the stunning red satin cape hides his temporary cast and sling very nicely. Before Trick or Treating commenced our neighborhood had a costume contest for the kids. The boy won first place in the Scariest Costume category. Got a nice certificate and a $10 McDonald's gift card! The kids both got a lot of loot and hope to get more tomorrow when we visit Auntie Nett's house for Trick or Treating in Mt. Prospect.

Also in picture are some of the neighbor kids from down the street.

Tomorrow morning we go to the orthopedic doc to set the boy's arm and get the official cast. He's really not looking forward to that.

Happy October

Man, only 4 posts in September how sad is that. Here's to hoping October is a bit slower for me. Actually this week has been very nice, only 1 weeknight of work at job 2, which is tonight. Tomorrow I work at the school book fair in the evening (after conferences in the afternoon) and Friday I took off work because the kids have the day off and I wanted to do something with them after they spend the day at daycare. Maybe we can find a HS football game to go to. That would be fun. I think things would be much better if I could just get job #2 to give me the schedule I've been begging for. 2 weekday evenings and 1 weekend day - WedThurs night and Saturday evening. I could handle that. But after working Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat by Sunday morning when I have to go back there I just lose it. I can't take that much. The last two times I've been in to work I haven't been ablt to locate the "Availability Change" forms so I think they are hiding them until after the holidays. I have to get that form soon or I will have to quit.

And oh, the stories I could tell about that place. We had customers with Red Cross cards from Hurricane Katrina. Let's just say the supervisors didn't handle that well. It seems awfully silly for cashiers to have to apologize for the rudeness of managers. But then again, they make millions, and I work for them. Hmmmm....

In other news, everyone here is fine and looking forward to the High Holiday in our house....Halloween! I took Halloween off at the district so I could go visit the kids schools and luckily I have it off at job #2 anyway. I also requested the Sunday before off so we could go Trick or Treating. If I don't get that day off that's definitely a deal breaker.

Alright, enough babble. Off to scramble some eggs. But on that note, I have lost 15 lbs to date and my shoes don't fit anymore. That's one plus from working so much.
